2009 ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE: The Tide finishes with a perfect 14-0 record and wins the National Championship for the first time in 17 years with a convincing 37-21 victory over Texas in the Rose Bowl. This will be the the first of six national titles won under head coach Nick Saban. Notable players: Julio Jones, Mark Ingram II, Marcell Dareus, Rolando McClain.

 

 

1981 CLEMSON TIGERS: The 12-0 Tigers defeat Nebraska in the Orange Bowl 22-15 and are consensus National Champions. DB Terry Kinard is the only player in Clemson history to earn All-American first team honors in back-to-back seasons.  Notable players: Terry Kinard, Homer Jordan, Jeff Davis, Perry Tuttle. 

 

 

1996 FLORIDA GATORS: Steve Spurrier's "Fun & Gun" offense produces a fifth straight SEC title, and first-ever National Championship. The Gators  crush their in-state rivals, Florida State 52-20 in the Sugar Bowl. QB Danny Wuerffel wins the Heisman trophy. Notable players: Danny Wuerffel, Ike Hilliard, Reidel Anthony, Jeff Mitchell.

 

 

1999 FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES: The Noles finish a perfect 12-0 and are the first team in NCAA history to go "wire to wire" being ranked continuously as the #1 team in the nation from the preseason through the bowl season. Notable players: Chris Weinke, Travis Minor, Peter Warrick, Laveranues Coles, Sebastian Janikowski.

 

 

2023 MICHIGAN WOLVERINES: The 15-0 Wolverines win the National Championship for the first time since 1997. Michigan is the first FBS team since Minnesota in 1903 to hold 15 different opponents under 25 points in a season. Notable Players: J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, Will Johnson, Mike Sainristil, Kris Jenkins, Mason Graham.

 

 

1975 OKLAHOMA SOONERS: The Sooners defeat Michigan 14-6 in the Orange Bowl and are consensus National Champions after #1 Ohio State and #2 Texas suffer defeats in their bowl games. DT Lee Roy Selmon is taken #1 in the NFL Draft by Tampa Bay. Notable Players: Joe Washington, Lee Roy Selmon, Dewey Selmon, Steve Davis.

 

 

1969 PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS: Penn State posts a perfect 11-0 record, but finishes #2 in the nation behind Texas according to the AP and Coaches Polls. Two other designated selectors, FACT & Sagarin, recognize the Nittany Lions as co-champions. Notable players: Mike Reid, Tom Jackson, Charlie Pittman, John Ebersole.

 

 

1969 TEXAS LONGHORNS: The 11-0 Longhorns win their second National Championship after defeating Notre Dame 21-17 in the closing seconds of the Cotton Bowl Classic. Notable players: Bob McKay, Leo Brooks, Ted Koy, Cotton Speyer, Steve Worster.
