The Bills (12-2) defeat the West winning Chargers (8-5-1) 20 to 7 to capture their first of two consecutive AFL championships. Leading Buffalo's stampede is gun-slinging QB Jack Kemp, a power running game featuring fullback Cookie Gilchrist, and a stifling defense. Gilchrist leads the league in rushing with 981 yards. Hot on Buffalo's tail in the East are the Boston Patriots (10-3-1). The Pat's Babe Parilli leads all AFL QB's with 3,465 passing yards, while his versatile teammate Gino Cappelletti is named league MVP with 49 catches and 25 field goals. Houston's Charley Hennigan tops all receivers in catches (101) and yards (1,546). Len Dawson's 89.9 passer rating leads the league for a rising Kansas City squad.
