Many experts predicted that Leicester would be relegated and bookmakers gave 5,000–1 odds on them winning the title! The unlikely nature of Leicester's title leads to a flood of coverage world wide. Meanwhile, defending champions Chelsea suffer through a season of major disappointment and fail to qualify for European football for the first time in two decades. Chelsea's Eden Hazard, previous season's player of the year, does not score a goal until late April. Arsenal, looking for their first title since 2004, takes the top spot from Leicester in early January. However, a poor run of results sees them drop to fourth by mid-February. They remain in contention, but three draws in April cause their title hopes to disappear. Aston Villa, a constant in the Premier League since 1992, is the first team relegated followed by Newcastle and Norwich. Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane leads the league with 25 goals, while Leicester's Jamie Vardy and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero each finish with 24 scores. Vardy sets a record, scoring in eleven consecutive matches. Arsenal's Peter Cech leads the league with 16 clean sheets.
