THE 1975 SEASON:
The Pittsburgh Steelers (12-2) successfully defend their title with one of the best defenses of all-time. After finishing the regular season with with six wins by 21 or more points and a first round 28-10 blow-out win over Baltimore (10-4), the Steelers narrowly defeat the Raiders 16-10 in the AFC Championship, and the Cowboys 21-17 in Super Bowl X. Steeler's receiver Lynn Swann becomes a human highlight reel and his epic catches earn him Super Bowl MVP honors. Minnesota's Fran Tarkenton is named league MVP with 2994 yards passing and 25 TD's while completing 64% of his passes. Buffalo's O.J. Simpson leads the league in rushing with 1817 yards, while Ken Burrough of the Houston Oilers tops all receivers with 1063. Mel Blount of the Steelers picks off 11 passes and is named Defensive Player of the Year. Washington's back Mike Thomas wins Rookie of the Year honors with 919 rushing yards and 40 catches for 483 yards.
